This is an incredible story of God's faithfulness and God's power. Nehemiah repented on behalf of his people and begged God to help him do the impossible - rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Despite all odds against them (imagine building a wall with a sword in one hand), God helped them to finish the wall and secure the city!
As a parent, are there sins that you need to repent of on behalf of your family? Are you willing and ready to plead God to help your family do big things in the name of Jesus? As you read this story to your children, share with them times that God has helped you do things that you thought were impossible. Describe how He got the glory and how weak we are without Him.
And naturally, this is another story that is fun for little ones to act out. Grab some building blocks and some swords (sometimes we use pool noodles as swords in our house) and build the city walls while fighting off the enemies! Wow, what a wonderful God we have, who helps us do great and mighty things!
