Daniel 4

This Sunday in C3Kids we'll be teaching from Daniel 4.

This is the story in which God humbles King Nebuchadnezzar - he was forced to eat grass like an ox and live with the beasts of the field until he acknowledged that God is the source of all good gifts and that he needs the God Most High.

Children can better understand this story by likening it to the way a baby needs his mother.  Do you know any new babies?  Talk about how that baby needs his mommy.  Wouldn't it be silly if that baby told his mommy, "I'm such a great baby.  I don't need you anymore!"  Well, that's basically what King Nebuchadnezzar did to God.  So God revealed truth to him by humbling him.  But God was patient and merciful with Nebuchadnezzar and God eventually restored him and even poured more blessings on him!

Discuss with your children about how we all need God.  We can do nothing apart from Jesus (John 15:5).  We are created to bring God glory - not to bring ourselves glory.  What does this look like day-to-day?  Ask God to search our hearts for hints of pride and teach us to walk in humility.
